Spotlight on...
| Rossendale United 0 - 1 Chorley |

| Unibond League Division One |
| Goalscorers: | Peter Wright 50' |
The welcome return of key players such as Teale, Price and Vermiglio to the side, coupled with an inspired opportunistic strike from Wright, was enough to bring a fifth away win. If only our home form matched up, we'd be challenging at the top of the table. Priestley put his debut woes behind him with an impressive clean sheet, and after some early jitters looked competent.
Chorley should have been ahead by half time as they dominated possession with the wind at their backs. The sodden pitch meant every ball was worth chasing, and Wright latched on to one punt early on on the left wing. He put in a beautiful cross for Martindale, who stretched but didn't get close enough to touch the ball home. Vermiglio stung the keeper's hands from inside the area as well, but few real chances were created. Rossendale had a brief spell of possession, and Tulloch cracked a shot in which Priestley saved impressively, but Sullivan had an even better chance to score when Vermiglio found him at the back post. Rossy's keeper did a good job to keep him out though.
Chorley went ahead deservedly on 50 minutes from a Sullivan corner. Squires headed the ball goalwards from the edge of the box, and Wright hooked his leg up to flick the ball in from close range. The game briefly threatened to boil over as Morrison was booked following a vicious looking altercation with McGrath, but Chorley continued to create chances. Martindale was unlucky when a Price cross was blown a little behind him, and he wasn't able to get power into his header when well placed. Bowden also had a good chance to increase the lead, but again Rossy's keeper saved well. Vermiglio was booked for interfering with a free kick, and generally seemed to get drawn into the niggly atmosphere of the match. However Rossendale finished the game well on top, and could have scored on several occasions as the match drew to a close. Tulloch hit the woodwork with a wind-assisted free kick, and another couple of speculative efforts drifted closer to the goal than would have been the case in normal weather. Chorley's defence did the necessary whenever a chance was created inside the box, though, and a most welcome three points puts us back in touch with the right end of the table. Three points on Saturday and we'l be on the right road.
