Leather was dropped to make way for Schofield (why?). Eatock, Bradford and Mason came closest in a match in which Chorley just didn't compete and in which they were vulnerable down the middle. SPS - second from bottom - made Chorley look like the relegation candidates, Illingworth impressing for the home team. On 21 minutes, Marshy gave away a free-kick for handling outside the box. He was lucky, last year he was sent off for something similar. Illingworth took the free-kick which was met by Ludlam who fired the ball past Marsh. Bradford and Mason both brought out saves from Turner in the SPS goal. However, it was Hurlstone who settled it with a fine shot again set up by Illingworth. A number of fans at the end summed up the Chorley performance as rubbish!! The team certainly had no pattern. Can't blame Wallace for this one! However, with Danny Kent solid at left-back and the forwards missing Wallace's promptings, the lesson must be to have Wallace in midfield and Kent at right-back. That way we benefit from his finer touches without having the gaps at the back.
