Atherton Collieries teenage striker Anthony Pilkington has signed a six-month deal with Coca-Cola League Two side Stockport County.

The 18-year-old hit man has struck twelve goals, including a match-winning hat trick against FC United of Manchester last month, for the North West Counties League Division One side.

The Blackburn youngster completed his medical finalized the move, although there was no fee involved.

"He is a player we've admired for a while and it will be good for him to play professional football," said Stockport boss Jim Gannon. "We believe he deserves his chance."

Pilkington, who has struck eighteen goals in thirty-five games for Colls, joined the club in January and has been influential in the Alder House outfit's best-ever campaign.

"We are absolutely delighted for him," said Atherton secretary Emil Anderson. "He is one of the players who have helped galvanise the club and we are very proud of his achievement. We wish him all the best and we're sure he will do very well."
