Clitheroe taking Final very seriously. As they should.

Played a weakened side today and got hit for 8 (EIGHT) by Spennymoor.
Score 8-3.

From their Forum:

"Well, where to start! From the team selection, it was clear that the Final was clearly uppermost in the manager's mind. No Seydou, Danny Morton, Danny Brady, Simon G or Sefton in the starting line-up. A full debut for Tom Jackson at right back with his Youth team skipper Ryan Cattermole in centre midfield.

The Blues took the lead through Denty before a horrible fumble by Pete in the goal two minutes later popped the ball at the feet of a disbelieving forward. Thereafter it was a succession of non cleared crosses, soft goals and distracted mistakes which led to the bulk of goals. Don't get me wrong, Spennymoor had a very handy looking front line and will cause most teams problems. It was great to see Jay come off the bench and knock in a 20 yard free kick and to see young Tom hobble off at the end having had a solid debut - he can be very proud of his efforts.

Conclusions. All are fit for the final. As long as this score is put to one side, there'll be a few of the squad who all travelled who will be desperate to play on Monday. Secondly, I wish Spennymoor well. A smart club, nice people, friendly crowd. However, I think they all know that when they come to Shawbridge in 10 days time, this score line will be a dream which will never be repeated. I fancy us to beat them. You heard it hear first. Now let's get this Cup won! "
