Looks a great signing as far as experience goes and Matt is very happy to have beaten other teams to him.

Sounds interesting. Some of our most composed centre backs have been ex professional players. From Shaun Teal to CMW last season.

Yes..........a good solid, composed centre back. But, looking at our signings so far.......4 Defenders, 1 Midfield and 1 Striker. My worry is if we don't manage to hold onto Darren, then what are our striking options?........Connerton..a trier but unconvincing;Gonzalez a proven goalscorer...but at this level??......and ...erm...Correia..(is he one of ours).

I do agree with the above comment but looking at it from another angle, does the fact that Matt has only brought in one striker indicate the club's desire to keep Darren? Surly that's a positive thing.

Agree, Tempie-the club has said only sensible offers will be considered for Daz and they have resisted two approaches already. As for any replacement and/or additional forward, everyone acknowledges that proven goalscorers are extremely valued (Rowe, Southwell etc) and expensive-as are speedy wingers and so on.The other issue is how they would impact the 'dressing room' atmosphere -Richie Allen scores goals but, then again...

Saw his debut for City. Was marking Ronaldo and was outstanding. Went downhill from there though.

Have seen a lot of him over the years. When his head is right he is very solid.
