Chorley v P.N.E. pre-season friendly......

Postby Charlie Magpie » Fri Jul 08, 2016 2:21 pm

The pre-season action gets under way on Saturday with the visit of Preston for the annual Jack Kirkland Trophy match.

Referring to the Friday evening game against Bamber Bridge and Saturday's game at Chorley, the official PNE website states;

"There will be two different Xls in each half for both games, so fans will see plenty of new faces in action over the two friendlies.

Speaking ahead of the match, Simon Grayson said: "They are two good games, the players have had just over a week or so of training, predominantly double sessions, so we will go to Bamber Bridge on Friday, then Chorley on Saturday with a strong squad.

"There will be a different team for 45 minutes of each game to ease the players into the work that they are going to be doing.

"It's going to be nice for the players to get out on the pitch and get some proper game time, and it will be nice for the supporters to be able to see the new players."

The PNE website also quotes "Entry for the friendly against Chorley at Victory Park is priced at £5 for all, with U12s free when accompanied by an adult."

There is an interesting post regarding Saturday's game on the pne-online forum; " There will be a yellow card protest on 18 minutes in support of The return of an A and E department at Chorley hospital closed since 18th May. Yellow cards will be given out at the turnstiles, please show your support."

Are the club aware of this protest and will it receive any media coverage? We must consider the impact of no A and E at Chorley Hospital should a player receive a serious injury at Victory Park, or a spectator suffer a heart attack whilst watching a match. Should the M6 or M61 be congested with traffic, could we see an air ambulance landing on the Victory Park pitch?

Are season tickets good for the game?

Posted on the CFC official website on 22nd May;

"All Chorley FC season ticket holders will be admitted to all home friendly games for FREE as long as their season ticket is purchased prior to kick-off."

This has been normal practice for pre-season games in the last few years so I presume it will be the same again this year.

Perhaps someone from the club could confirm this.

So an exhilarating first-half display in which we outplayed a very experienced North End line-up and should have been at least two up at the interval is not worthy of comment from anyone who saw the game?

It was a really good first half!!! Not as good in the second half. Shelton Payne?? Can someone explain that one?

Impressed with performance yesterday, with us playing 3 centre backs and wing backs getting up and down to great effect. Carver and Gonzalez were a real handful for the PNE defence. Would like a central midfielder who can get on the ball and control the game.
Obvious from yesterday that we are looking to pass the ball more than last season

Yep, Like that setup in the first half.
Played some good stuff, and looked in control all the time.
Those 2 up front will be a handful for anyone.
The 2 new full/wing backs are a welcome addition.

Very impressed by the front two in the first half. Connerton needs to do some improving and not entirely sure what Shelton Payne was doing back though to be fair he didn't get a chance to run at the defence.

A bit more strength in depth is needed from what I saw but the makings of a good team is there.
