Newby joins

Alex newby has signed from clitheroe on an 18 month contract. This is much needed and gives us some optimism. I’ve banged on about signing him for a while now. He’s got 19 goals this season and 11 in the last 11 games. He’s young at 22yo so has potential to improve further. We had him on trial in the summer so you might remember him from the euxton game. So it’s a case of better late than never! Hopefully he gets plenty of game time!

Yay!

Although last night was a dreadful result I did express some optimism that it might be the start of some changes. Let's hope this one works, as you say Tempie he's young and goal hungry, so lets see him on the pitch starting this weekend!

Well it will be good for him to get a runout, maybe he could try out the bench as he might be on it for the next game...sorry that's a bit cynical. Looking forward to you report on Darr!

To balance some of my arguments on the Gainsborough thread, this is a very positive move by Matt and the management team-well done and welcome Alex.

Hope they are watching Kurt Willoughby too :)

Be it on your head Tempie if Newby flops

Really looking forward to seeing him if the reports and stats are anything to go by. But in all honesty, I don't think he'll be thrown in the deep end straight away against FC United and will probably come on about 20/25 mins to go then we'll get to see what he's made of.

Surely he can be given a start if we want to improve our chances of scoring a goal or two ? 20-25 minutes from the end could be too late to expect him to show 'what he's made of''.

Mike I think Ian is saying what will happen rather than what should happen. If it was me I’d start newby and Wilson up front with Metz the first change from the bench.
