Change of rule

Postby RedJag » Sat Apr 16, 2016 9:52 am

This was taken from the Evostik league but applies to all. There will not be many players left on the field after the first corner if current defending happens.

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League players who commit a foul to deny a goal-scoring opportunity will no longer automatically be sent-off under new rules coming into force next season.

The International Football Association Board (IFAB) - a body made up of the four British football associations and FIFA which decides on changes to the Laws of the Game - has confirmed that players won't face the previous 'triple-punishment' rule requiring a red card - and therefore a suspension - as well as the award of a penalty whatever the circumstances.

Under the changes ratified by the IFAB on Thursday, players committing accidental fouls to deny goalscoring chances will now be cautioned instead with a penalty awarded.

Deliberate fouls - include holding, pulling or pushing, not playing the ball, serious foul play, violent conduct or deliberate handball in order to deny a goalscoring opportunity - will still incur a red card, subsequent suspension and penalty award.
