Ashton United away

Postby peebles » Tue Jan 24, 2012 9:38 am

According to the Evo Stik site, this game has been brought forward to 25th February.

http://evostikleague.pitchero.com/fixtu ... &divisions[]=2974&divisions[]=2975&divisions[]=2976

They have Ashton Utd entertaining Stocksbridge Park Steels on 17th March, when we are due to vist.

Anyone know if this is right or an error?

I'm sure we can take this as correct. The downside from our point of view is that as things now stand we will have two consecutive blank Saturdays in March either side of the Reebok final on Monday, 12th. No bad thing to have a free day on Saturday, 10th to relax and prepare but it's a long time to be inactive in the league between 3rd March and 24th. when we need to be sharp to receive Hednesford!

Looks like it's right I've checked Ashton's site too:

http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/ashtonuni ... s-320.html

Pleased personally as I couldn't make the original fixture date.

Barring a cold snap, we have only the Lancashire Cup final as a midweek game between now and the end of the season. That should work in our favour when it comes to injuries.

PeterMarkCraig and other Londoners - book in next week or so and you can get return train from Euston for under £20 with railcard (£28 without). 10.20 Euston is on special offer. PM me if you want to join me for a Magpies day out.

Do not miss the Stalybridge station buffet if travelling by train - a cracking bar just over a mile from the ground.

Yep and if you get the Wayfarer ticket you can get the bus to the ground.

408 Bus from station to ground. Every hour, 11:45, 12:45, 13:45. 10 mins away.

Bus back is 17:04 so will be in the pub on the station for 17:15 :)

I'm in London at Stamford Bridge :( We have a prior appointment, lad is the BWFC mascot, got picked about 12 months ago

Had a few in the Stalybridge buffet en route to Mossley last year.

Also had one doing the Trans Pennine Ale Trail at Xmas.

Good selection of ales & I believe the food is tip top.

Pub at Hurst Cross over from the ground doesn't look up to much.

I think the buses from Stalybridge station are at 19 minutes past the hour on Saturdays. The bus time back looks correct

Looks like head out the station, turn right & the bus station is about 300 yards down on the left.

Couple of ale houses en route there too. White House looks nice just over from the bus station, Hydes house.

The bus to Ashton stops right outside the train station.

I'm aiming to be in the buffet for 1.15.

Some of the Euxton boys will have a couple under their belts by then.

Might just jump in a cab outside station rather than faff about with buses after a few.
