I see its not as cheap as Buxton to get there :(
Best I can advise is get Chorley to Manchester return at £8.10, or get a Northern Duo where 2 travel, 1 goes for half price which would mean £6.08 each.
Then book Manchester to Worksop for £24.80 return, total cost is £30.88 each for 2, £32.90 for 1.
As ever with trains, never straighforward, get your ticket through from Chorley to Worksop and you will be charged £39.60 return.
Is there a cheaper way by train? Obviously if you travelling with under 16s, use your railcard for a good saving.

Probably the cheapest way by train is a Wayfarer to Grindleford (on the Hope Valley Line between Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield) and then a return from Grindleford to Worksop (change at Sheffield) to Worksop.

Wayfarer is around a tenner

Grindleford to Worksop return is £11.40.

May be best to get all tickets at time of buying Wayfarer, as Grindleford is a pretty station in the Peak District with no facilities.

1. Don't scratch the date off the Wayfarer, the guard has to be a reet jobsworth to notice
2. Buy the Grindleford to Worksop on the train if the guard asks for tickets
