Stocksbridge (A) 31st March

This is copied off NLZ...

To get from Sheffield train station to the Look Local.
Firstly get the SuperTram from the train station make sure it either says Middlewood or Catherdral. If its the middlewood one stay on it to middlewood if its the Catherdral change at Catherdral for the Middlewood tram. Ensure you get a Stagecoach all day pass I think its £4.20. Once at Middlewood the terminus there is a bus stop on the park and ride site where you can pick up the supertram link which drops you off bang outside the the looklocal staduim. ( you can use your all day pass on this bus as well). On the way back you use the same bus stop to take you back to the tram stop. It takes around 45 mins from the train station to SPS.
This is for Chorley fans who I met earlier in the season who like to travel by train.

I reckon this is the guy who was on the same Worksop train as us both from and to Sheffield. He was a real character who, despite living in sheffield, supported Buxton but was apparantly banned from Buxton for 2 matches for making inappropriate comments on their web site and decided to watch Worksop instead. His description of how to get from Sheffield to SPS matches almost exactly to what is posted above. He also thought we were fortunate to win as we only had 5 shots in the entire game.

Getting the 57 bus from the interchange 5mins from the station is 10 mins quicker :)

15 and 45 mins past the hour from the interchange.

Was going to give this one a miss but looking at the ground it may be one to "bag".

Another alternative is to go to Sheff Meadowhall, where the supertram to middlewood starts.

10:22 from Chorley gets you into meadowhall for 12:16, get the super tram and should just miss the Sheff wed football "traffic". Plus you'll get a seat as the trasm starts at meadowhall.

It's a very picturesque spot with an excellent playing surface, probably the best in the league.

I did this by train once going via Penistone. Not recommended unless you like walking or cycling up very steep hills, although it is a very beautiful journey.

Or we could meet at Sheffield Station and share a taxi between 4 or 5 supporters. If anyone is interested pm me or speak to me at Hednesford game.

Not really. The 57 route has changed since you last probably came so you'd have to walk up some nice hills. The bus and tram is every ten minutes and the bus drops straight outside the ground. The bus service finishes at 7.30 so plenty of time to get back to the train station. The all day saver with stagecoach is £3.70 which will cover the bus and tram.

Any ideas on how many people will be coming?

Out of all the things I miss about Chorley, going on the Sunshine Bus is probably right up there.

Is anyone able to give me a lift back to Chorley (or ideally Leyland/Preston) after the Stocksbridge game please? PM me if so, thanks.

Was this info helpful? Planning on using this for the Chester for Saturday if it was useful.
