For those that don't know (and if not, why not?), all Chorley games are broadcast on Chorley FM at chorley.fm and if you're in the Chorley area, on 102.8FM

Now rebranded to MagpiesLive.
Changes will be made to the CFCST site to show this. So when it does, please change your bookmarks accordingly.
Cheers

Tried to listen to the Spennymoor game today but had to give up after eventually finding out how to listen as it wasn't on Chorley FM when I tried in the first half!

  • Loss of signal.
  • Chorley FM ads every few minutes over the top of the commmentary, even when we are mid attack.
  • What's happened to TuneIn and other online radio methods - all dead?
  • What is the YouTube thing all about, it'll kill most mobiles batteries having to have that open and running for an our and half plus if you want to do anything else on your phone YouTube stops, plus only 5 listeners when I tried it - is it worth it?
Need to have consistent method of listening and clear/current instructions of how to lusten.
If Chorley FM can't be arsed broadcasting all the games and when they do the keep skipping the commentary to tell me not to smoke in bed (!!!) then dump them and get a proper online broadcast sorted that supporters can trust will ALWAYS be there, not just when it suits.

And why no commentary from Prestwich, would have been good to hear some goals going in?

More Magpies Limp than Live at the moment... Get it sorted

Sorry about yesterday. The internet signal at the ground was poor and evidently kept dropping out. If that happens, then everything stops as you can imagine. I also can't see it dropping out and have to rely on messages from my own mother who is my number one fan, to let me know it's happening which it did in the first half. The second half was different as I don't think it dropped at all because I connected via my phone, but this really drained my battery and wouldn't have sustained a full match (it also uses my data which cost me about £4.00 just for the second half). Any service problems will be tweeted via the @MagpiesLive (http://www.twitter.com/MagpiesLive) account, but I couldn't even do this through the laptop during the second half because of the signal.

As for ads being played over the commentary I'll look into that.

Chorley FM is now automated between 3 and 5pm on a Saturday, meaning there's no one in the studio to push the buttons. It only works when the mic is active at the grounds, if the signal drops at my end, the automation kicks in after 5 seconds and an advert/song is played instead of having dead air, or when it's half time. It'll only come back in 10 seconds after the mic is switched on or the internet has connected again like it did yesterday. It's a system that works perfectly, when, as I said, I can get good enough internet at grounds.

The YouTube link is just another way to listen. It's used by commentary teams at other clubs so I thought, why not? It also records the raw stream so anyone can listen back to it.

As for Prestwich, I've never broadcast early rounds of the Lancashire FA Cup and most know this incl. the Supporters Trust.

Quick update,

I've been told by Chorley FM that until they iron out the problems with the commentary (cutting into music, jingles appearing at random times), they will cease broadcasting Chorley FC commentaries temporarily.

But fear not, no one can silence me, and I'll still be able to bring you the full match commentary via the Supporters Trust website (http://cfcst.org/magpieslive) and through Youtube.

Assuming you know the basics of Youtube, a link will be posted on http://twitter.com/magpieslive around 10 minutes before kick off. Just click the link and it'll open up the Youtube page for the commentary. Fear not if you don't hear anything when you open up the page, commentary will start just before kick off.

Secondly, if you subscribe to the Youtube channel and set Notifcations, you'll get a notification on your smartphone when a broadcast is about to start.

Thanks for your continued support and kind comments as always I recieve about the service.

Hi Ed. Currently, as briefly mentioned at Boston (sorry it's taken this long to get back to you but I've been in Hamburg since Monday), here's how you, or anyone else, can use the service....

To access the commentary, follow these instructions:

((SATURDAY GAMES ONLY)) in the Chorley area :
Go to your radio and dial in 102.8 - Chorley FM (touch wood this service works
On PC/Mac Go to http://www.chorley.fm and select LISTEN LIVE in the top right corner of the webpage. Normally a pop up box should appear and play directly from that. If a pop-up doesn't appear, you're using a pop-up blocker so disable it first (alternatively use this link http://chorley.fm/RadioPlayer/Hi/ )
ALTERNATIVELY
Go to http://youtube.com/magpieslive - It is our dedicated Youtube channel where you'll hear the raw stream (that just means no jingles/music at half time). Subscribe to it if you have a you
On smartphone You can use the Chorley FM app to listen in. Or if you have TuneIn app on your smartphone, just search for Chorley FM and listen to that.

also, and these work for Saturday games too

((MIDWEEK GAMES))

Best way to listen is via Youtube (see above)

Otherwise, you can
(On your PC....)
> Open Windows Media Player
> Whilst holding CTRL, press U, a box will appear.
> in this box put http://217.146.93.85:8000 and press ok

Or

Click this from your device http://217.146.93.85:8000/listen.pls?sid=1

You should now be tuned in!

Hope you enjoy the coverage!
