Fire at Radcliffe Borough

Postby reco » Tue Dec 06, 2016 10:27 am

Sad news over the weekend and yesterday morning was a fire started in the main stand which has destroyed some of the clubs main stand- Press Box and PA Room.

Such as shame as we saw many good games with Radcliffe in our pre and early Flitcroft days. Also many former Chorley players had spell as Radcliffe- Burke, Mulli, Roscoe, Preistley and Luckza- just to name a few I can remember.

They are meant to be playing West Didsbury & Chorlton in the LFA cup Q/F tonight at home and from I understand they are going to stage the tie just 48 hours since the blaze.

This is what the area now looks like- https://www.facebook.com/RadcliffeBoroughFans/photos/pcb.10157847155965287/10157847153220287/?type=3&theaterhorrible images.

One of their fans has set up a Justgiving account with the aim of raising £500 if anyone wants to donate.

They have now increased what they are trying to raise to £5000. Very sad news. Some of my first memories of watching Chorley away are here.

Well a bucket collection was going to be held tonight until the last minute.

It would have been a good gesture for all Chorley fans to donate together in one large donation from the club, so again, why no bucket?

It would. It would've made a good name for us, but alas...

I was quizzed today by a fan who asked me why a collection wasn't held, the inference being that someone in an official capacity had vetoed it.
For clarity, I was asked by a fan group for permission to hold a collection and I gave it gladly. I wasn't here for the game but I understand that one wasn't held, the reason for this lies with the fan group and not myself or any other match day staff.
