Saturday the 28th - let's see if these bleeding covers fit!

Postby 12th Man » Sat Jan 21, 2017 9:46 pm

Can all volunteers meet at the ground at 10am and we'll work out how these covers go on?
Now is the time for actions to speak louder than words, if you want to help either post here or pm me
Hopefully we can work out what needs to be done and someone will step up as the owner of it.
I look forward to seeing and meeting the people who really want to help

Thanks for the replies folks, 4 people have contacted me but unfortunately only 2 can make it on Saturday. Hopefully some of the other people who have offered to help on here will step forward as we need 8 to ten people ideally.

With this in mind is 10am Sunday morning better for folks?

Graham and myself will be there and will be laying on bacon butties plus tea and coffee. There will also be a chance to ask any questions about current issues and future plans.

I'll be setting up a contact group (what's app) and will contact the guys who have already volunteered in the meantime. Please pm me if you can make it and provide a contact mobile phone number.

Thanks

To confirm - it's Sunday morning 10am
We've had a few responses but there's still time for those who posted in the past saying they would help to get in touch.
If you haven't already then please confirm your attendance, all are welcome, the more the merrier.

I spent a good while researching pitch covers yesterday afternoon and it turns out we might have been putting them on 'the hard way'. After seeing one of them unfolded yesterday it's meant I could do some research. It turns out that the green inflatable tube could actually be a roller and the covers are rolled out once it's inflated. In the videos I've seen it looks much easier than the way we did it. We need to confirm this from the manufacturers though to be sure.

As said above we do really need more help because these covers are very heavy and even getting them to the pitch is difficult. Yesterday it took 8 of us 1 hour to fit (without pegging down) and remove one cover. There are 12 in total to cover the pitch!!!

Even if we have got the inflatable roller covers (which if we have graham has got us a bargain) all 12 covers will need unrolling, attaching to the inflatable roller, rolling up and then storing. This won't be a quick job and the more people that can help the better.

Once they are all rolled correctly the task in future should be a lot easier, as the Roller is inflated inside the covers and then rolled accoss the pitch, laying the covers as it goes. So fingers crossed.

if this is it, they will be spot on.
These are a bit bigger than ours, but same.
Looking at video, we need to lay sheets out on pitch, inflate roller, then roll the sheets up, deflate roller,
Then we are good to go next time.
Sooner rather than later.
If it gets frosty next couple of weeks,
Saving one of the next two home games will go a long way towards paying for them.

Acquiring the correct blower must be the next job then and then to get covers ready to go prior to Kidderminster game if needed.

I think we have actually got the pump Ian. We could do with a couple of wide brushes so that any water can be brushed off when they are getting rolled up.

That's good then, nobody seemed to know Sunday morning whether we had it or not.As I said previously we need to get sheets organised prior to Kidderminster game, don't think we'll have a problem with frost this week.

Dropped Grandson off at Soccer School this morning,
Saw covers piled up in corner.
We could do with getting them 'ready to roll' now the nights are drawing in.
Need to get them sorted to earn their outlay back.

We really need to meet one morning prefably a Sunday and get them sorted. I'll speak to the Groundsman because he needs to be there.
