A statement has just been released by the board of Leigh Genesis outlining some of the difficulties the club is currently facing.

I wonder if there will be any implications for our two fixtures against Leigh? I think their hopes and ambitions of reaching the play-offs this season are dwindling fast. Will Victory Park be used as a venue for future Leigh 'home' games?

Gawd, another club in a mess

I have noticed that, where possible, VP seems to be a "venue of choice" as other people's home ground. I know we think it's falling apart, but it must have something going for it

Reading on the nonleaguezone under a topic about saturday win alot of people have said that chorley is a great ground. So despite your LSV and Shays out there it proves you do not need a modren state of the art ground to be loved.

found this on the unibond website
Leigh Genesis Football Club regrets to announce that it is again seeking sponsorship following the withdrawal of funds from its main sponsor.

The Club was given a lifeline at the end of last season by Manager Garry Flitcroft backed by a financial company whose intention it was to involve a number of investors, funds were not forthcoming in sufficient measures to maintain the ongoing expenses therefore the Club will need to find additional funding as a matter of urgency to secure its survival

With a former Premiership Manager, Premiership player and a real chance of promotion it would be tragic if this historic club was to fold; the board is remaining optimistic that there are people out there who will come forward to inject much needed cash to see the club not only through this season but into the future.

Spokesperson for the Club, Mary Croasdale says
‘We have faced issues in the past and have always overcome them; this new stadium should have been the making of the club but instead it has achieved the opposite. Finances at non-league level are tight and a club needs to have either a huge supporter base, healthy money-generating social clubs or wealthy backers; this club can offer an amazing opportunity for someone wishing to get involved in non-league football and take a journey up the leagues, we have everything in place to achieve this’

Mary continued

‘In addition to a first team we have a healthy junior section affiliated to us, a knowledgeable board and of course respected names such as Garry Flitcroft, Matt Jansen and Mike Quigley in the coaching staff – what other non-league club can boast such a line-up?!

But the club is looking for an immediate solution, there is no way of disguising the situation and it is not going to change without drastic action; the bottom line is that this club will, with the loyalty of its player and coaches, see this season through but without serious help will not be able to continue after that.

So it sound like that Leigh could fold hope they dont because we dont want another member of the great non-league family to go under

Bad news, naturally, but

this historic club

16 years (ish) isn't long enough to be historic, surely.

I suppose that the reference to historic refers to their 'previous life' as Horwich RMI.

Perhaps they would have been better calling themselves Leigh Exodus!
