So the club have now released a statement regarding the situation surrounding Terry Fearns................
Club Statement re Terry Fearns
Thursday, 26 November 2009 10:45
Chorley Football Club Chairman Ken Wright issued this statement on November 26, 2009:
The club are now aware of the circumstances of Terry Fearns' recent arrest and pending charges. It would be inappropriate for him to continue to play for the club.
Accordingly, he has been suspended and fined.
That's the situation until further information is available and legal advice sought.
How will this effect us come saturday and does it give SW time to bring in a replacement of Terry's quality. We were lucky to get him in the first place and would imagine a true goalscorer is not going to be easy to find at this point of the season unless silly money is offered. Whixh we don't have.
Please note: Petermarkcraig can you confirm the contents if my post are ok and will not bring the club or myself into disrepute. |

Last things first.
You cannot accuse someone of being a liar on a public forum jameswil.
I am an administrator and a moderator on this forum and it is my responsibility to ensure that nothing is written that will result in litigation against the site, the club or the members of MIS. That is all I was doing and your apology was all that was needed.
First things last - What was Terry Fearns arrested for? I missed this story obviously. |

| It is on the front page of tonight's Evening post, but not as yet on the LEP website. Something about being arrested on Tuesday re:drugs. Hence that is why he couldn't play on Tuesday. |

| According to the LEP, Terry Fearns was one of 14 people arrested following raids on homes across Merseyside and Dundee. No charges have been made against Terry. All those arrested are being questioned in relation to a variety of different alleged offences, including conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and possession of a shotgun. It is not known on what grounds Terry was arrested. |

Sorry Petermarkcraig if you feel I was having a dig at you but I was only stating my views as a fan and instead of putting liar should of worded that JV maybe be sidestepping the issue. But I am from CHorley and we call a spade a spade not an instrument for lifting earth.
Also there is no need to answer in big bold writing I wear glasses and can read standard text very well.
Maybe when you attend a game at VP we can have a drink and settle our differences but I don't recall you being at a game for some time.
As fans we are all passionate of our team and at this level of football we have to be, so when it appears something doesn't stand correct we should be able to question it. |

I also am from Chorley and am a straight talker James.
You cannot call someone a liar in public without evidence to prove your accusation. Simples.
Quite what my lack of attendance at games has to do with my role on the forum I fail to see.
More than happy to have drink with you the next time I'm at VP.
Come on Chorely!!! |

with the following update do we believe we will not see Terry Fearns in a Chorley shirt again.....
Former Southport FC player in court on drugs charge
A former Southport FC player was one of 11 people to appear at Liverpool Crown Court today (Wednesday December 9, 2009) accused of involvement in a drugs plot.
Terry Fearns, who is a striker for Chorley FC, was among those arrested in a cross-border bust of the alleged drug ring last month (November).
Officers from Merseyside Police and Tayside Police arrested the alleged gang members after executing search warrants. Fearns was a player with Telford FC at the time.
Fearns, 32, a former Wigan trainee who also used to play for Southport, is charged along with his co-accused of conspiring to supply Class A drugs between January 1 and November 25 this year.
Fearns, of Lincoln Green, Maghull, was further remanded on bail along with Barry Devlin, also 32, of Bedford Road, Bootle, and Joanne Farrugia, 26, of Whinhow Road, Croxteth.
Conditions of Fearns' bail include surrender of his passport, a £7,500 surety and reporting to a police station twice a week.
The other defendants, who appeared via video link equipment from prison, were further remanded in custody.
They are: Mark Constantine, 32, of Wenning Avenue, Maghull; Stephen Harrison, 20, of Chapel Road, Anfield; Lee Holden, 36, of Weaver Avenue, Kirkby; Darral Fitzsimmons, 41,of Dens Road, Dundee, Scotland; Paul Campbell, 49, of Lacey Street, Widnes and Darren Spendlove, 33, of Hale Road, Widnes, Patrick Farley, 23, of no fixed address, and Robert Soutar, 24, of St Mary Street, Dundee..
The case was adjourned until March 26, 2010 when they are expected to enter their pleas. A date for their trial, estimated to last four to six weeks, was fixed to begin on May 24 next year.

Fearns had already been arrested and bailed in March for what seems to be a similar charge. See here for more details.
It was OK with the club to sign him in the summer, in full knowledge of this.
It is now not OK with the club that he has been arrested and bailed again.
Is the difference that he is being charged this time? |

The difference is when bailed there is further evidence to be gained before the crown prosecution service would decide on whether or not they could prosecute
charged means there is enough evidence to present to the courts and a strong possibility that if brought to trial the crown prosecution service feel that there is enough evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt of the charged persons involvment in the said offence.
hope this clears your question up |

| From the clubs point of view has anything else developed on the Terry Fearns front. I think the last statement the club made stated that he had been suspended until further notice. As a contracted player does that mean that he is no longer entitled to the weekly wage agreed in his contract? |

Assume so, why would we still be paying him? |

Just found this on the Liverpool Echo
Former Southport FC footballer Terence Fearns pleads guilty to drug conspiracy charge
Striker Terence Fearns, 32, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday for a plea and case management hearing with 11 others accused of being involved in the plot.
The eleven men and one woman have been charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs between January 1 and November 25 last year.
Fearns, of Lincoln Drive, Maghull; Steven Harrison, 20, of Chapel Road, Anfield; Lee Holden, 36, of Weaver Avenue, Kirkby; Mark Constantine, 32, of Wenning Avenue, Maghull; Joseph Makereth, 24, of Brooklands Road East, Old Swan; Patrick Farley, 23, of no fixed address; Paul Campbell, 49, of Lacey Street, Widnes; Darren Spendlove, 33, of Hale Road, Widnes; and Darral Fitzsimmons, 41, of Dundee, Scotland, all pleaded guilty and will be sentenced on June 18.
Joanne Farrugia, 26, of Whinhowe Road, Croxteth, and Robert Soutar, 24, of St Mary Street, Dundee, deny the charge and face trial on June 1. Barry Devlin, 32, of Bedford Road, Bootle, will enter a plea on April 14.
Fearns was on bail, but Judge Henry Globe, QC, granted his request to be taken into custody. Farrugia and Devlin were released on bail.
The rest were remanded.
The nine men who pleaded guilty were told a custodial sentence was “inevitable”.
